Hi, I'm Abby! - the artist behind GlowAF. My love for art and painting started when I was a little girl, which naturally carried into my passion for spray tanning! For the past two years, I've been helping people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin through natural, customized tans. To me, spray tanning is more than just enhancing your skin - it's self care and confidence. The reason someone may walk a little taller or smile a little brighter! I truly love making others feel good about themselves and my goal is to create an experience that makes you feel like you're glowing from the inside out. I hope to meet you soon <3

SPRAY TAN PREP

Prepping your skin before a spray tan is just as important as the application

Shave and exfoliate 24 hours prior

This will ensure the best base for your tan. The smoother your skin is, the smoother the application will be

Wear dark loose clothing

Wearing dark, baggy clothing will avoid your tan rubbing off and creating unwanted lines

Come in with bare skin

No lotion, makeup, deodorant or oils on skin before coming in. This will create a barrier between you and the tan. You can remove makeup and deodorant at your appointment

Have all other appointments fulfilled

A spray tan should be the last appointment booked for any event. Nails, hair and wax appointments should be scheduled beforehand

Answers to some common questions

  • TIPS TO A LONG LASTING TAN

    Proper prep

    Luke warm showers

    Moisturize 2x a day

    Pat towel dry

    Avoid perfume directly on skin

    Avoid aerosol sunscreens

    Avoid Dove / Olay products

  • What should I wear to my appointment

    Dark loose clothing

    I recommend a loose dress, sweatpants with a loose waist band, baggy tshirt and open toed shoes or crocs

  • How long will my tan last

    7-12+ days depending on how well you take care of it

  • What products are spray tan safe

    Hempz, Native, Raw Sugar, Method, Love Beauty and Planet and Shea Moisture are good lotions and body washes

    Use a gentle face wash like Cetaphil, Cerave or Laroche-Posay

    AVOID Dove/Olay products before and after.

  • How long does the appointment take

    The spray tan itself takes about 8 minutes. The appointment takes on average 25-30 minutes total

  • When can I shower

    Shower within 2-6+ hours or sleep in it

  • How many days before an event should I get my tan

    2 days before event

    2-3 days before wedding

    1 day before trip

  • Can I shave after my spray tan

    Shave ONLY with a new, 2 blade razor, no moisture strip and gently shave without pressing hard on your skin. 

    Shave with body wash

  • Can I tan with a spray tan

    Of course! This also means you should still be wearing your sunscreen to avoid sun burns. Any aerosol sunscreens will cause a splotchy tan. 

    I recommend any lotion sunscreen such as Sunbum, Aveeno and Supergoop 

  • Can I swim with a spray tan

    You can but it may fade the tan faster. 

    Before swimming make sure to take a rinse off shower and lather yourself in lotion.

    After swimming, take another rinse off shower as soon as possible. This will rinse the salt water or chlorine off which eats away at the tan. 

    Avoid being in water for long periods at a time, but still enjoy your time and have fun! 

    Hot tubs will fade a tan fast 

  • Can I do my skincare routine

     Avoid anything with mineral oil, benzoyl peroxide, salicyclic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, malic or lactic acids, parabens and sulfates

    Just note, your face tan will always fade faster due to oils, makeup and makeup remover. 

  • Can I shower right before my appointment

    Yes, but rinse with cold water to balance your PH levels so your tan doesn't turn orange. 

    No using soaps before your tan. This will cause the tan to turn out splotchy

  • What happens if my tan smears after leaving the salon

    No worries! If you see any color start to trasnser, it is just cosmetic bronzer. After you shower, it'll even out and you will be left with a flawless tan. If you are super worried about it, message me or take a dense blending brush and blend it in

  • Will the tan stain my sheets/clothes

    No! If any solution gets on your clothing or bedding it will wash out

  • Can pregnant woman spray tan

    Yes! But it is important to consult with your doctor beforehand
